Central Towns Trophy & The Brennan Cup
Once more I have to thank Colm Brown for his excellent timely reporting of the results for Inter Club Matches. It seems now that we have a match of some sort every few days and it is super to see that we are doing so well in these events.
My only concern, and it is a personal opinion only, is that I feel we are entering too many competitions run by clubs and that our members are asked to play in too many events. Going back 25/30 years we played in Leinster Branch events and the only non GUI event then was The South Leinster Trophy.
Anyhow, enough of that and back to the activities of our members on The Inter Club scene:

Central Towns Trophy v's Mountrath - h/caps of 13 plus.
We played Mountrath last Wednesday May 26th and we were conceding Home Advantage, which meant that 4 of the 7 matches were played away.
Despite this we had an excellent 5½/1½ victory and one must pay special tribute to our Away Players as we had a clean sweep in Mountrath.
The results are as follows:
Home:
Leo Foy - won 4/3. Martin Godfrey - called in. Robbie Flood -called in.
Away:
Tom Rogan - won 3/2. Tommy Tobin - won 2/1. Kieran Harris - won 6/5. Norman Hannigan - called in.
Managers: Colm Brown (Home) & Paul Flood (Away).

The Brennan Cup v's Callan - Fourball Matchplay.
Sadly the news here was not as good. However, it has to be said that the 5 matches were all played in Callan and it is never easy to win 3 out of 5 away, especially on a couse like Callan which is unknown to most of our members.
Despite losing 4/1, two of our matches were level when called in so who knows, it may have been a 3/2 loss - not a bad result away from home.
The results were as follows:
John Redmond & Robbie Flood - lost 3/2. Tom Myers & Tom Rogan - lost 3/2. Richie Kelly & Brian Tobin - lost 3/2. Se?n Hicks & Paul Hicks - called in. Declan Scully & Jim Fitzpatrick - called in.
Managers: John Redmond & Robbie Flood.
